War Artists

Tom Lea

Tom Lea, born in 1907 was an artist, who explored mediums such as murals, illustration and who was also  a novelist and a war correspondent.

Unlike most WW2 era art Leas\'s work differed through it's use of vibrant color. The use of such extreme color capture's the viewers eye, intriguing them and making the reality of the war very jarring. His work was the first painting displayed in the National World War II Museum and is a stark contrast from the monotony of the black and white photos of war.
