Map Artists
Mathew Cusick: Is a multimedia artist that usually works in collage, painting and book art but his most renowned work is the pieces he makes with maps. He works in Dallas Texas, he once discovered a box full of old maps in his studio which sparked an idea in him, he began to experiment and was immediately fascinated with the possibilities he was struck with and continues to work with the media today.
Nikki Rosato: Nikki Rosato makes her works mostly based off of her belief that maps are remarkably human and uses their lines and patterns to make figural pieces based on the human form. There seems to be a theme in her artwork that displays two people connecting , in some way, usually by their mind or skull.
Shannon Rankin: I create installations, collages and sculptures that use the language of maps to explore the connections among geological and biological processes, patterns in nature, geometry and anatomy. This is a quote by Shannon Rankin, she says her work explores different ways of perception and feelings. Though not all of her work is strictly made from maps her other artwork has the feeling of maps, because of the way the flow and look kind of like maps.
