Gerard Geer of Melbourne Australia merges his creativity with chemistry and
anatomy in his artistic pieces . Geer utilizes a combination of animal specimens
and amalgamations of forms to create fantastical hybrid
creatures and intricate landscapes. Geer is self-taught in all of the
techniques he uses in creating his artworks. I chose his work because I haven't seen anything even remotely similar to what he is doing and I believe that its so odd that its endearing. His work is really original and just fun to look at it almost is like taking you back to your childhood when you would create magical creatures in your dreams, but in real life. His work looks almost flawless and kind of fools you into believing that what you're looking at is real.
I like the colors he use for the second piece, it looks pretty nice, it was like his art was combine both reality and unreality. I hope you can post your photos in a bigger size.
ReplyDeleteKillian, I think this artist uses a very interest topic for his work. He works on a bit of a smaller scale and that can be interesting. His work is mesmerizing. It is almost as if I am looking at a creature that could be real. I really like the color schemes that he uses in each of his pieces. His work is very different when I compare it to all the other artists that I have already looked at. Very enticing.
ReplyDeleteHis work is well done and visually interesting! My favorite piece is the last one, It has fantasy nightmare vibe. Your writing about him was really good as well.
ReplyDeleteI love how anatomy and aesthetic absurdism are applied in these pieces. I think it is very cool when artists use nature in their artwork because it can't get much more organic than that.
ReplyDeleteI really love the combination of the skeleton and the surface layer of the skin like the fur and the feathers! It is such an interesting and weird combination but it goes together super well! I really like the first piece how he was able to make the wings the head of the subject!
ReplyDeleteThese are very interesting. I would love to draw one of these taxidermy creatures. My favorite one is the colorful one- it looks like a critter I'd doodle in my sketchbook. I'm very glad I learned about this artist!
ReplyDeletethese artefacts are exquisitely made as if they were real.this is a good artwork, putting them on the desk can makes people feel relaxed.
