Blog 2 Musician
What do you love about the musician that you chose?
For my project I chose Billie Eillish. Billies music is very alternative and dark, but that is hidden by the pretty sound that she displays. You can’t just listen to her music, you actually have to analyze it to know what she means, to understand how she’s feeling. I love how her music isn’t all the same either, she has some really inspiring and powerful music but she also has music that paints her in a more vulnerable color, giving herself to the listener, less of making the music for you and more for her.
What draws you to their music?
I love how she makes you actually listen to the lyrics , they’re not just some Taylor Swift song about her ex boyfriend that was written in fifteen minutes, her music is poetry and you need to be able to put yourself in her shoes to understand it. Billie is also really young for her skill level, not saying that you should be a certain age to peruse the music industry, but it is honestly impressive, intriguing and inspiring. Since I’m almost vaguely at the same stage as Billie is in life, I kind of feel like I can connect with her music, it’s easy for her to listen to, and fun too because i know how she feels. She’s a very empowering person and she shows it and she knows it, and self confidence is one of the best things to wear in a society that has one perfect normal.
Principles of Art in their Music.
As I said before, Billie has two sorts of styles when she writes her songs, one being more pretty and the other being more rigid and edgy. The different contrasts in her songs are drastically different, so much so that it kind of seems like someone else is writing them, but once you peel back the different sounds and bass lines and the musical aspects you find her once again in the lyrics. Most of her songs feel the same they have a sense of pattern when you listen to them, even though they are completely different when you listen to one song after another, they all have the same feel to them.
